RECAP 11/19 & Group Ride Nov 26th: REC Meridian Loop / INT Surrey Ridge

sharon, tony, patrice, mike, john

Last weekend we had a nice split between the REC and INT riders.  Everyone took off together and then split shortly after heading eastbound on Orchard Road.  Patrice held her REC group strong summit-ed the backside of Longs Peak and returned via the back way off Broncos Parkway.  Meanwhile, Chris kept heading East with the INT out to Aurora Reservoir and back...check out ride stats here:

Recap Nov 12th: REC / INT Sloan's Lake - Golden

RECREATIONAL / INTERMEDIATE: Sloan's Lake / Golden
Comments via ride Leader(s): Justin & Tom

Sweet ride with a great turnout of around 16 riders on a beautiful fall day!  Justin and Tom led the charge with the whole pack down the Cherry Creek on the way to REI. Early on a rec rider went down trying to multitask with managing a water bottle and trying to avoid a runner.  She was okay and so was her bike, and Tom assisted with her getting back riding and continuing on. The group gathered at Confluence, and 9 riders split off with Justin to go down 23rd and do a lap around Sloans' Lake, while 7 went with Tom to battle the high winds out to Golden.  Sloan's Lake was gusty and white-capped, but the riders got the benefit of the wind on the backside and most of the way home for a really fast return.  New rider Sam (pictured) was on her first road bike (a cyclocross setup) and really getting into the sport and loving the motivation of the group. She held a great pace on the ride back.

Another great BV group ride!

Recap Nov 5th: REC / INT Cherry Creek State Park

So it seems many have already hung up their spokes or perhaps simply set them up on indoor trainers for the season!  (riiiiiight...)  Nevertheless Saturday rides will continue on...so long as roads are ride-able/passable.

RECREATIONAL / INTERMEDIATE:
Comments via ride Leader(s): Jeffrey & Justin

We began with a mixed group of 11 die hard intermediate and rec riders and although we had a somewhat varied group, we ended up getting a great workout in. The group included one newbie (Daniel), recently relocated from Denton, Texas.  He claimed not to be acclimatized yet but hung in quite well.  It wasn't as cold as they were threatening but windy but we were nervous about threats of rain and didn't venture far from the shop.  Justin and Jeffrey took the group into Cherry Creek Reservoir to do a series of 6 hill repeats which added a fitness and warmth benefit.

About half the group, who were more hopeful than the leaders ;) about the state of the weather, split off to do a longer ride.  Most of all, there was a lot of camaraderie in the group from being out riding at a time of year when most people hang up the cleats!

Hope y'all have a great week.

Saturday Group Ride Nov 5th: REC- CC Res and/or Soccer Fields / INT- Surrey Ridge

Welcome to November!

Forecast is not looking too promising for an outdoor ride this Saturday but we will start with a plan and A and have back up B if need be.  Please note that based on weather predictions and in anticipation of less folks willing to take on the cooler temperatures, we may only offer one group ride each Saturday.  Please read the email and blog carefully to avoid confusion.

Thank you in advance for checking your
tire pressure, spokes, pedal tightness and computers BEFORE our 9:30 am departure.

INTERMEDIATE / RECREATIONAL: (varied mph average)
Cross your fingers that the moisture holds off a spell and Justin and Jeffrey can take you out for a spin.  Together, as one, the group will held out through CC Reservoir heading southeast.  Options will include: a) riding around the reservoir and practicing some hill climbs, b) heading out to the soccer fields before turning around or c) an ambitious group continuing on to Surrey Ridge before heading back.
