Recap October 29th: REC Meridian Park / INT Aurora Res

Thank you to all 20 of you that showed up on this chilly start of a day to venture out.  Hopefully as the temps rose so did your enthusiasm! As many witnessed - flats are not uncommon this time of year: friendly reminder that as the temperature drops, tube valves can break easier and everyone should try to be more cautious than normal when airing up for your ride.
Stay tuned as next Saturday is looking "iffy"...

7 dedicated riders - Megan, Rachel, John, David, Tony, Rick, and Mike - headed out to Meridian Park on a chilly Saturday morning.  The group stuck together and everyone did 2 laps around the park.  As we were taking our mid-way break, several other cyclists rode by doing laps of their own.  They were riding at a nice clip and David said that if they came by again he'd attach on.  Sure enough, the came by, gave us grief for taking a break and David hopped on.  The rest of the crew headed back to the store.  It was a nicely uneventful ride although some of the group members had a rough start with flats and popped tires before we left the store.  Overall a great ride of about 26 miles!

INTERMEDIATE:
Comments via ride Leader(s): Malia and Jeffrey

A chilly start lead to a beautiful ride today for the Int group.  13 riders joined leader Malia and sweep Jeffery out to Aurora Reservoir; Donna and Malia did their best to stick with the guys who were pushing a brisk pace.  Thankfully there was only one icy spot heading out of Cherry Creek over a wooden bridge which had melted and cleared up on our return.  The group held a solid pace and had a great day, especially as the temperature improved.  It was a day for flats.  We delayed our start while someone who had picked up a leak on the way over changed a tube.  Then, our ride was punctuated with breaks when two riders got flats over the course of route. The more adventurous of the two involved a flat, followed by a pinched tube and then a broken valve stem, and at least three CO2 cartridges. All this while standing in the cold wind blowing across the reservoir.  Jeffrey did a great job as sweep helping to make sure that each rider was able to get back and riding again.
