Let's kick the long Memorial Day weekend off together with a great ride! We should have another warm and sunny ride for this Saturday and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the wind gives us a break; anyone who rode last Saturday will know what I mean.
We have two fun rides set for Saturday. RECREATIONAL RIDE: Nicolette and Jacquette will take this group on a great 23 mile ride up to REI taking the Cherry Creek bikeway. REI will be the turn around spot and stop to refuel. The ride will have a slight incline as you ride towards REI with a slight descent on the way back to the shop.
INTERMEDIATE RIDE: Chris and I will take the more advanced riders out to Bear Creek Lake Park in Morrison. Our ride will take us out on Yale, under I-25 via Highline bikeway, we'll pick up Dartmouth at Colorado Blvd., head south on the South Platte trail for a mile or two then pick up the Bear Creek bikeway heading west all the way into the Bear Creek Lake Park. Our last stop will be the Conaco Station near Morrison which will serve as our refuel and turn around stop. It's a fun 45 miles of mostly flat riding till we hit the park where we'll have a couple of climbs.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

We welcome ALL cyclists from all levels of experience. Whether you just bought your first hybrid bike and feel unsure how to shift correctly, upgraded into a road bike but don't know if you can keep up, or you're looking for a fast group to push your pace into new levels and distances, we'll accommodate any style and fitness level. The one thing we all have in common is that we enjoy pedaling our bikes with the sun on our face and with friends to share it with.
Recap: Group Ride May 22nd
Thanks to everyone for battling the wind and coming out to ride with us this past Saturday. We had a great turnout with lots of familiar and new faces; I think our count for both rides was over 40! Despite the crazy wind, we finally had some seriously warm weather to celebrate. Not sure how everyone else fared, but I know that I'm now sporting some fine bike short and jersey tan lines (smiles).
Nicolette and I took the rec ride out to Cherry Creek State Park where our ride split in two: John and Dwayne took some motivated riders out towards Centennial Airport. The strong gusts kept the rest of our group in the park and happy to ride back to the store with a killer tailwind. The wind prevented me from taking many action shots while I was riding, but here are a few and you can take a look at.
Hope to see everyone this Saturday- I'm already counting down the days till the weekend and our next ride!

RECAP: Group Ride May 15th
We managed to get in a good ride and stay dry all at the same time. Of course now it doesn't look like it will rain at all go figure... Oh well what can you do right? We had a total of 19 riders today that broke into two groups our Rec. and Intermediate group.
The Intermediate stats are posted below.
Now for some eye candy...

Looks like the weather will be beautiful for Saturday's ride! Summer is finally here - hopefully to stay this time. We have two great rides set up for this weekend. INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED RIDE: Our longer route for riders will be out to Chatfield res. Mileage will be 56 miles with a pit stop at REI and if needed we will fit one in at the gas station near the reservoir. Elevation gain throughout this ride is 1,780 ft. and we will be pedaling at a steady pace to get ourselves back in reasonable time. Route will take us past the Aurora soccer fields, to the C-470 trail, north on S.Platte trail, and back to BV via Cherry Creek trail. You can view map and profile info via our Garmin stats from our March 3rd blog post. Chris and Tom will be taking this group out to ensure folks keep together and are feeling the thrill of the ride.
RECREATIONAL RIDE: If you just got the dust brushed of your bike for the 1st time this spring or maybe you just recently purchased a new road / hybrid bike, come join us for a loop out towards Centennial Airport. The hardest climb is getting to the top of the Cherry Creek dam - and the rest is smooth sailin'. Nice big shoulders, minimal traffic, open lands, and views of the Front Range Mtns are on this route. Mileage will be around 30 miles at a leisurely pace. Nicolette and Malia will be leading this ride to ensure no one is dropped off the back and any mechanical issues are cared for.
Enjoy yourselves. I'll be working hard at BV, but hopefully will be able to join you next go around! Lani

Group Ride Saturday 15th High line canal/Aurora Res.
Happy Friday every one! I presume we are all ready for the weekend, although the weather isn't promising. They are predicting rain showers in the morning which would end up canceling the ride. If we do receive rain then we will spin in the shop as a back up plan. We will follow the same procedure as usual arrive at the shop at 9 and get your bike set up on a trainer and we will start at 9:30. We will spin to a spinnerval DVD for 45 min to an hour. If we get lucky and it doesn't rain the Rec. group will ride the High line canal/ CC spillway and the Intermediates will ride Inspiration. The blog says the intermediates will ride Inspiration but since we did that last weekend I figured we would do something different. The Aurora Res. ride is one of my favorites, it has some nice climbs and fast descents mixed with some beautiful scenery along the way so we will be riding out there.
I am not sure the exact route the Rec. group will take out to the High line canal but I am sure you can find an old recap on the blog. The intermediates can check out the ride stats from previous rides to the Aurora Res. if you want by scrolling down the blog. Every one should arrive at the shop at 9 and we will leave at 9:30, bring the usual necessities such as food, water and an extra tube and inflation device.
The blog is updated with a recap from last weekends ride with Tom Danielson. I know some of you were anxious to get the pics of yourselves with Tommy D. so you can see all the pics at the link to Picasa on the blog.
See you all tomorrow morning, keep your fingers crossed for dry weather.
Regards,
Chris

RECAP: Group Ride May 8th w/ Tom Danielson
I hope every one had a great time on Saturday riding with Tom Danielson... I know I did! There were some great give aways at the Oakley Rolling O Lab and some lucky people walked away with some new Oakley sunglasses and 2 signed jerseys from Tom Danielson. We had a really nice day with partly sunny skies and temps in the mid 50's. We had a decent size group that joined Tom on a lap around the Cherry Creek Res. before he and some of the Rec. group headed back to the shop. The Intermediates the headed east and went out to climb Inspriation.
We had a great ride out and back to Inspriation. I'm sorry for slowing the group down but I wasn't feeling good that day (as most of you probably know) and I appreciate every ones patients. You can check out the ride stats from my Garmin 705 by checking out the details...
Tommy D. signing some posters before the ride.
Tom Danielson and some of the gang.
Tom in his aero position.
Doing a little refueling.
Taking a little break after a short climb.

I hope to see you all again this Saturday.

Group Ride Saturday May 8th
Hello every one, this weekend we will be having a some really exciting things happening at the shop. We are having a bike expo with a ton of things on sale and a huge tent outside with great deals on bikes. There will be some different vendors here as well that you will be able to talk to. The Oakley Rolling O Lab will be in the parking lot as well where you can check out all the latest ground breaking technology the O has to offer. Sunday Trek Factory Demo will have over 70 bikes on hand including Madone road bikes, EX Full Suspension and Women Specific bikes to ride. Bring your clothes pedals and shoes and we will take care of the rest.
We will also have a special guest join us in the shop and for the ride... Who is it you ask??? Mr. Tom Danielson from the Garmin-Transitions Pro cycling team will be here to sign autographs and then will accompany the Saturday Group Riders for a little spin! If you are unfamiliar with who he is please click on the link to get the low down on Tom. http://www.slipstreamsports.com/garmin-slipstream-pro-team/tom-danielson
Saturdays schedule will be a little different than usual, Tom will be here at 11am to sign autographs and hang out. All Saturday Group riders will be eligible to win a signed Garmin-Transitions jersey from Tom. The ride will then leave after the signing session.
We will all leave together with Tom and do a lap around the Cherry Creek Res. and after that the beginners will head back to the shop and the intermediates will continue on and ride out to Inspiration which will be a 40 mile ride or so. Please check out the stats from the last time we road out to Inspiration if you are unable to decide whether or not you feel comfortable with the distance, pace and climbing.
Please bring the usual goodies, food, water and an extra tube and inflation device. The weather looks like it should be pretty nice with a high in the low 60's and partly sunny skies. Perfect riding weather...
Regards,
Chris
ps. It will be my birthday on Saturday, so feel free to bring me a gift. :P
