Evening BV group riders, I hope you all had a pleasant week. I am sorry to say that it looks like we will be spinning inside tomorrow for the second consecutive week. Mother Nature is raining (literally) on our parade. Tomorrows weather forecast is for a combination of snow and rain so we will be working up a sweat on the trainers. I am guessing that Team in Training will be joining us again like last week since I don't think they will be riding outside either. I would recommend arriving a little early so that you are able to get on a trainer because it is hard to say how many of them will show up.
Bring a towel to wipe off your sweat, water to stay hydrated and a snack to keep fueled up if you so desire. We will be spinning for roughly and hour to hour and a half. Steve from Team in Training will most likely lead the spin class as he did last week. He brings a great sound track with him and keeps things moving along and mixes up the work out.
I hope you have a relaxing night and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Regards,
Chris
We welcome ALL cyclists from all levels of experience. Whether you just bought your first hybrid bike and feel unsure how to shift correctly, upgraded into a road bike but don't know if you can keep up, or you're looking for a fast group to push your pace into new levels and distances, we'll accommodate any style and fitness level. The one thing we all have in common is that we enjoy pedaling our bikes with the sun on our face and with friends to share it with.
RECAP: Saturday Group Ride Spin
Hello every one, I hope you all had a great time in spin class this morning. I would like to thank Steve from Team in Training for leading the class today. You always do an excellent job and keep things fun and exciting. I would also like to thank all the BV riders that braved the icy roads this morning to come to spin class. We had a mixed class today with some Team in Training folks along with some BV regulars which was nice and it added a little variety and some new faces to meet.
We spun for about an hour and a half or so at various tempos. Steve does a great job of mixing up the session and keeps you on your toes. We listed to a up beat sound track that Steve brought that helps keep you motivated. He followed up the class with a nice cool down and some good stretching.
A few of the BV'ers then joined me after the class for some hot chocolate and conversation before heading back into the cold. At least the sun is out and looks to be melting the snow already. I am hopeful that we can get back outside next Saturday but its not looking good at the moment as they are predicting rain. We all know that can change at a moments notice living here in Colorado so stay tuned and you can be on the look out for the email later this week.
I would like to send some well wishes to Janis. She is one of our regulars and a fabulous woman who had an unfortunate skiing accident and tore her ACL. We are thinking about you and miss you on the rides Janis. Good luck with your recovery and we can't wait for your return!
Now here is a little eye candy from class today...

Saturday Group Ride March 20th Spinning
Evening every one, so this week we will be heading to Golden. Just kidding, I wanted to make sure you were paying attention. Due to the snow we will be spinning inside tomorrow morning to a spinnerval DVD. So wear your shorts and t-shirt and get ready to sweat. Please show up at the usual time of 9 am so that you will have plenty of time to get your bike set up on the trainer. We have 25 fluid trainers so there should be enough room for every one. Bring the usual goodies, water, a snack if you want one, and possibly a towel for you to wipe off your sweat. Hopefully we won't have any flats tomorrow... :) If you do decide to spin tomorrow please be careful driving in. I hope you all had a good week and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Regards,
Chris

RECAP Saturday Group Ride March 13th DTC/S. Platte/REI
Hello every one, what a great day/ride we had on Saturday. We had a large group with 20 riders that was filled with regulars and some new faces. The weather was beautiful as we had sunny skies and a high in the mid 50's and very little wind.
We started out by going to the top of the Cherry Creek dam and through the DTC. Then we made our way to Happy Canyon Rd. which we used to get to Dartmouth. We took Dartmouth straight till we ran into the Platte trail which we turned right and headed up to REI. When we got close to the Broncos stadium we had to take a detour which lead us through some construction. We arrived at REI were we soaked up the beautiful sunshine, refueled and had a bathroom break. We all had a chance to mingle with one another and took some time to take some goofy pictures. After a little R&R we remounted our bikes again and cruised all the way home on the Cherry Creek Trail.
Every one road great and it was a pleasure leading you guys today as always. I hope the rest of your weekend was relaxing and fun, and I look forward to seeing you all again next Saturday.

Group Ride Saturday 13th DTC/S. Platte/REI
Hello BV group riders... I hope you all are having a great week! This Saturday's ride looks to be another good one, sunny skies and a high in the mid 50's . After a few weeks of harder rides we will be taking it easy this week. We will be riding the DTC/S. Platte/REI route. This will be a ride that all level of rider can enjoy, we are looking at a ride time around 2.5 hrs. and about 35 miles based off of past rides on this same route. It is mostly flat with a few rollers on Dartmouth, this will be a nice and relaxing ride and we will be stopping at REI for a bathroom/food/coffee break and hopefully we will soak up some rays!
Be sure to check out the blog and follow the links to the Garmin site and check out the past 2 rides we have done... Chatfield & Inspiration profiles are uploaded and ready for viewing. The Chatfield ride profile is not 100% accurate because it is based off the same ride that I did on my own so the top/ave. speed and the ride time are not what we did on the Saturday ride. The elevation gain/loss are the same though. I had accidentally deleted the info from the group ride so I re-rode it by myself so you can see the elevation and mileage at least.
Next time you see Brian, be sure to congratulate him on winning February Rider of the Month!
Happy Friday, and I hope to see you all this Saturday.
Regards,
Chris

RECAP: Saturday Group Ride March 6th Inspiration
Hello every one, if you decided to pass on the ride this past Saturday you missed a great one. We had beautiful weather and really nice temp. It was sunny and temps. in the mid 50's with zero wind. I was a little disappointed with the turn out, we only had 8 people who decided to brave this ride. I was expecting a higher turn out because the weather was so nice but maybe most of you guys were scared of this ride?
Next time you see Brian be sure to congratulate him on winning Februaries Rider of the Month honors.
Be sure to check out the Garmin link for the ride stats...

Saturday Group Ride March 6th
Hello every one, I hope you all had a great week and are looking forward to a fantastic weekend. This week we will be heading east and our route will be Inspiration. The weather looks to be really nice with sunny skies and high around the mid 50's. This ride is fairly difficult with some climbing and descending along with some nice fast flats where you can practice your paceline skills. Come prepared with the usual necessities such as water, food, extra tube and some sort of inflation device. I would recommend wearing either knickers or shorts with knee warmers and a jersey with a base layer and arm warmers. That way if you get hot you can take off knee/arm warmers and still be comfortable. One other thing to consider is sunscreen... It is supposed to be sunny most of the day with some clouds they say in the afternoon so you may want to slather some on so you don't end up with a burn.
In case you didn't know we are having "Deals on Wheels" this weekend so it will be a little crazy at the shop. Parking will be limited due to the huge tent set up in the parking lot, so you may need to allow yourself some more time to find parking. We will leave promptly at 9:30 so make sure you are there and ready to go at that time. I will also be presenting the "Rider of the Month" prize for February so you can look forward to that. Will it be you??? You'll have to come and find out.
Don't forget to check out some of our Group Ride videos on YouTube, just search bicyclevillageaurora in the search box. I apologize that I didn't have the stats from my Garmin on our last ride because when I went to upload it there was a software update which I did but unfortunately it deleted the ride info. I went out and re-rode the same route last night so I will upload that later so you can at least see the elevation and distance. The speed/ave. speed will be different from what we did during the group ride though. I think that is about it... I hope to see all of you tomorrow for the ride because as I said before it will be a really nice day!
Regards,
Chris

RECAP: Group Ride Saturday Feb. 27th
Hello every one, well this weeks ride turned out to be really nice. The weather turned out great with high in the upper 40's and partly sunny. There was little to no wind which is always welcome. We had a great turn out with 12 riders joining me for this ride and one new comer Casey who was joining us for the first time. It was great to have you with us Casey and I hope you had fun and will come join us again for future rides.
Every one got a little taste of what cyclocross is all about with some off bike hiking.
Dan and Jovi catching up.
Taking a little break, and time to clean out the cleats.
The group, getting ready to head out after our refueling stop.
